The fourth season of gospel talent competition Gospel Dream premiered tonight on the Gospel Music Channel.  The show features judges Michelle Williams, J. Moss and Mitchell Solarek, and hosts Kimberly Locke (American Idol contestant) and Mike Kasem.  It is a six-week long series airing this summer at 10PM on GMC.  According to the press release, “the winning artist will receive record and music video exposure, among other prizes.”  I unfortunately do not get this channel, so hopefully I get to see my girl Michelle judging this on YouTube!

Another noteworthy new release this week is Let the Truth Be Told, the debut album from R&B singer-songwriter Laura Izibor.  I first discovered her while watching VH1 Soul one night and saw the video for her song “From My Heart to Yours.”  She was their “You Oughta Know” artist.  I have yet to hear the album, but I may check it out soon and if so, I will review it.  I just figured I’d put the word out there for this talented new artist.  If anyone else is up on Laura Izibor, feel free to leave a comment.

The all-new DC3 Forever!

The all-new DC3 Forever!

Posted on 11 Jun 2009 at 11:11pm

Hello, and welcome to the all-new DC3 Forever! We began four years ago in July 2005, when the site’s founder, Antony, created DC3 Forever as a temporary haven for DC-Connection.net posters during downtime.  After DC-Connection permanently closed in 2006, we became the new home for thousands of Destiny’s Child fans and the #1 source for all things Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle.

I’m Vinny.  I have been the co-owner, administrator and webmaster of DC3 Forever since the very beginning when Antony asked me to join him four years ago.  A new addition to the DC3 Forever family is Kennard, owner and webmaster of Destiny Vault, with whom we have joined forces with to create this all-new site for you.  Get to know us!

Over the past four years, DC3 Forever has consistently gained popularity and with this all-new blog and fan community, we hope to open doors to more possibilities and bring fans together.  The site has already been visited by Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and we hope similar opportunities occur.

In March 2008, I was granted an exclusive interview with Kelly over the phone, in which I asked questions that only true fans could come up with, providing for an insightful and personable interview.  During that interview, I gave Kelly a tour of the site, and listened as she browsed and read what her fans on our board had to say about her new song, “Love Again.”  It was an amazing experience.  In addition, Kelly recorded a special video dedicated to DC3 Forever after receiving our fanbook from Ant.  You can watch it here: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3

Coincidently, that same month I also received a voicemail from Michelle in which she asked me to pass along a special thank you message to the fans from DC3 Forever for the birthday book we had sent her, and she informed me that she would be visiting the site.  That’s two out of the three - so now we have to work on Beyoncé!

This will probably be the only time I will ever say this but, enough about Destiny’s Child.  This blog is centered around them, yes, but it is so much more.  This is a blog about their influences, their peers, and those they’ve inspired. That means legends like Michael Jackson, divas like Mariah Carey, hit-makers like Ne-Yo, hip-hop stars (husbands) like Jay-Z, fresh talent like Chrisette Michele, and even up-and-coming underground artists, like Avon Semaj.  Yep!  All that, and so much more…

So, in the simple yet timeless words of Beyoncé… “you ready?

Billboard Chart Update

Billboard Chart Update

Posted on 11 Jun 2009 at 9:58pm

As far as we’re concerned, big news this week is that Beyoncés new single “Ego” has debuted @ #77 on the Hot 100.  On the R&B 100, the song jumps 13 spots to #16.  Meanwhile, “Halo” stays put in the Top 10, falling two spots to #8 but still maintaining it’s bullet.  On the Bubbling Under chart, David Guetta & Kelly Rowland debut @ #14 with “When Love Takes Over.”  Hopefully next week we will see this summer anthem on the main chart.

As for their peers, P!nk leaps 13 spots as well to #21 with her latest, “Please Don’t Leave Me.”  One spot above her is fellow pop star, Kelly Clarkson with her new single, “I Do Not Hook Up” at #20.  Enjoying their 10th week their, the Black Eyed Peas sit at #1 with their trite new single, “Boom Boom Pow.”  Don’t get me wrong, like them - just not that trash.  On the R&B 100, the hottest new song out, Jay-Z’sD.O.A. (Death of Autotune),” debuts at #66 after only a few days’ airplay.  Jordin Sparks‘ epic new ballad, “Battlefield,” moves 78-65, on the Hot 100, showing how very inspired she is by Beyoncé on this track.

But watch out, because the Hot 100 Queen Mariah Carey is coming back next Tuesday with her new single “Obsessed.”
